Photo Resize & Signature Resize in 3 Simple steps

Photo resize and signature resize are easier when you can check dimensions and file size together. Use the tool below to resize photo files, resize signature images, adjust quality and download a copy for your application. Choose the Photo Resizer or Signature Resizer tab to begin. Follow the receiving website’s instructions for the required pixels, format and maximum KB.

Photo & Signature Resizer

Resize dimensions, reduce file size and prepare a black-and-white signature.

Your images are processed in your browser by this tool. No image upload to a server is required. Dimensions are in pixels (px); 1 KB = 1,024 bytes.

Photo resize and signature resize: a practical guide

A clear photograph and a readable signature can help you prepare an online form without repeated upload attempts. This tool lets you change width and height, choose an output format and check the resulting file size. It accepts JPG, PNG and WebP files up to 20 MB. Start with the clearest original you have: compression cannot restore missing facial detail or repair an already blurred signature.

How to resize photo files in 3 simple steps

  1. Select your image. Open the Photo Resizer tab and choose a JPG, PNG or WebP file. The original preview shows its dimensions and file size. Check that you selected the correct photograph before making changes.
  2. Set the required output. Enter the width or height in pixels. Leave “Keep original aspect ratio” checked to preserve proportions. Choose a format, then select a quick file-size preset or enter a custom maximum. Watch the live size as you adjust quality.
  3. Process, review and download. Click “Resize & Process”. Check the processed preview, dimensions and actual KB value, then download the image. If you change any settings afterwards, process it again to create a result with those changes.
Photo resize example: 600 by 800 pixels becomes 300 by 400 pixels while retaining the same proportions
Illustrative dimensions only, not an application requirement. Halving both dimensions leaves one quarter of the pixels; the final KB size also depends on content, format and quality.

How to resize signature images without losing clarity

Choose the Signature Resizer tab and select a clear scan or photograph of your signature. A closely framed source with an even, light background usually works better than a distant photograph containing the whole sheet. This tool changes dimensions; it does not provide a cropping control, so prepare the framing before selecting your file.

Enter the dimensions requested by your application. Keep the original proportions unless you deliberately need independent width and height. Stretching an image to a different shape can distort the handwriting. Use the processed preview to check thin strokes, dots and the beginning and end of the signature.

Signature resize with black-and-white output

The colour menu includes Original colour, Grayscale and Black & White. Selecting Black & White reveals a threshold slider. Higher values retain more dark detail, while lower values remove more background marks. Adjust it gradually and click Process to apply the change. Keep the original colour when the receiving website specifically asks for it.

Photo resize settings: pixels, quality and KB limits

Pixel dimensions describe an image’s width and height. File size describes the storage it uses. These are related but different measurements: two photographs with the same dimensions can have different file sizes because their detail and compression differ. Check both requirements rather than assuming that a small-looking image will meet a KB limit.

The quick presets include 10, 20, 30, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 500 KB. You can also enter a custom limit. For JPG and WebP, the tool attempts to meet that limit by lowering quality while retaining your chosen output dimensions. A difficult target may remain out of reach; the warning and actual output size tell you when this happens. Dimensions are not silently reduced to satisfy a target.

The live readout shows the size at your selected quality and, when a limit is set, a separate size after compression. Very low quality can introduce blur or visible blocks. Prefer a clear result that follows the destination’s requirements. This tool calculates one KB as 1,024 bytes; leave a little margin if the receiving portal measures its limit differently.

Choose JPG, PNG or WebP for the destination

  • JPG: A practical choice for photographs when accepted by the destination. Its quality setting can reduce file size, and transparent areas are exported against white.
  • PNG: Useful for sharp edges and transparency. PNG is lossless, so the quality slider is hidden and a small KB target may not be achievable. Grayscale and black-and-white signature processing use a white background.
  • WebP: Another compressed option with a quality setting. Choose it only when the receiving website accepts it; some application portals specify JPG or PNG.

For background information, read the MDN image format guide. MDN also explains how browsers export canvas images, including format fallback. If the browser exports a different format, this tool reports it and uses the corresponding download extension.

Check the result before uploading

Open the downloaded file and confirm that the face or handwriting is easy to recognise. Check the file extension, exact dimensions and final size against the application instructions. A portal may also specify background colour, framing or other requirements that resizing alone cannot meet. No single preset is suitable for every school, employer or service.

Keep an untouched copy of your source. Opening this tool’s file picker clears the previously selected image, and cancelling leaves no image selected. The Remove button clears the current image; Reset also restores that tab’s default settings.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a phone for photo resize?

Yes, the tool has a layout for smaller screens and uses your browser’s file picker. Select an image from your device, review the result and use the download button. Large images may take longer on a phone; try smaller output dimensions if processing fails.

Why is my image still above the selected limit?

The image may contain too much detail for the chosen dimensions and compression setting. PNG does not use the adjustable quality setting. If permitted, try JPG or WebP, or manually choose smaller dimensions. Always check the displayed output size before submitting it.

Will increasing the dimensions make a blurry photo sharp?

No. Enlarging an image creates more pixels but does not recover details missing from the source. Start again with a sharper original when possible, especially if a face or a signature stroke is unclear.

Does the tool send my image to a server?

The resizing code processes selected images inside your browser and creates a local download. It does not require uploading your image to a server. This describes the tool’s processing; see the site’s Privacy Policy for information about the website more generally.
